Terms of Service
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and RTPDS ("rtpdns", "we", "us"), which runs the DNS service at rtpdns.com. By using the service, you agree to them. If you use rtpdns for a company or other organization, you agree on its behalf and confirm that you're authorized to do so.
1. The service
rtpdns hosts authoritative DNS for domains: managed zones that we serve and sign with DNSSEC, and secondary or tertiary DNS for zones we copy from servers you or your provider control. The service is in early access. We set up customers by hand, and features, limits and prices may change as we build the service out. We'll tell you about any price change at least 30 days before it applies to you.
2. Your domains and your account
- Only add zones for domains you own or are authorized to manage.
- Keep your contact details current, so we can reach you about your service.
- Keep any TSIG keys and credentials we give you secret, and tell us promptly if you think one has been exposed.
- You're responsible for the contents of your zones and for your settings at your registrar, including nameserver (NS) and DNSSEC (DS) records.
- Before you stop using rtpdns for a signed zone, remove our DS records at your registrar first. Otherwise resolvers that check DNSSEC won't be able to resolve your domain.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use rtpdns for:
- phishing, malware, botnet command and control, or spam;
- anything that's illegal where you or your users are;
- infringing other people's rights, including trademarks and copyrights;
- attacking, probing or overloading our servers or anyone else's, or getting around our limits.
If we receive a credible report of abuse, or the law requires it, we may suspend the affected zones. We'll tell you when we do, unless the law or the urgency of the situation prevents it.
4. Fees and billing
Plans, included usage and overage prices are listed on our pricing section. During early access, we'll confirm your plan, and how you'll be billed, before your first charge. Fees are payable in advance for each billing period and, except where the law requires otherwise, aren't refundable. We don't bill for query traffic that we identify as part of an attack.
5. Cancellation and termination
You can cancel at any time. Your service continues until the end of the period you've paid for, and you can export your zones as standard zone files before you leave. We may delete your zone data 30 days after your service ends.
We may end your service if you materially breach these terms or don't pay. We may also discontinue rtpdns entirely, with at least 30 days' notice.
6. Availability
We work to keep rtpdns available, but during early access we don't offer a service level agreement. The service may be interrupted for maintenance or by events outside our control.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
9. Indemnity
You'll defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your zones, your content or your breach of these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and update the date above, and for significant changes we'll email customers at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
